Samung is expanding its Milk Music Platform into a new app called Milk Video. The platform was launched almost eight months ago.
Milk Video is an application which is now available for all Samsung Galaxy devices and allows owners to navigate, watch and share clips and videos from all over the Internet. As viral videos have started to gain a lot of recognition and they’re part of a very big and lucrative business, the App promises to be a success.
The parent of the app, the Milk Music Platform resulted after Samsung wanted to develop a competitor among streaming music services, such as Spotify. However, Milk Video is designed to work similar to YouTube but, as Samsung describes it, it should be better at helping you find more of the clips you find interesting. Milk Video was designed on the idea of personalization so beside video streaming, the service will provide relevant videos for you, based on your followers, likes, dismissed clips and the clips you watch. Its purpose is to set up its content recommendations every time you use.
When it comes to the way in which people find the videos they like sometimes has to do with sharing and sometimes it’s just random. If you take the example of viral videos, you are talking about massive amounts of shares. The more shares a video has, the more views it will bring, turning it into a viral video. However, people tend to discover more and more things every day while surfing the internet and most of them are discovered in a random way.
Using the new app, you can follow brands, friends and other users, look up your favorite content and share it with the world via the most common social media websites (Facebook, Twitter) or by e-mail. One of the best features is that you can share your videos even with those who do not have access to Milk Video.
The App is currently available in the Google Play Store, from where you can download it for free. The devices compatible with Milk Video are: Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, S4 mini, S III, S III mini, Galaxy Note II and Note III.
John Pleasants, Samsung executive vice president of media solutions, concluded:
“If you think about the screens we have from big, beautiful 4K HDTVs down through tablets and smartphones and even down to our newest wearables […], it becomes really important for us to focus on delivering a great services experience around really great content.”
