Former Biotech CEO Plans to Find Cure For Alzheimer’s and ALS

On Monday, Tony Coles, former CEO of Onyx Pharmaceuticals, announced the launch of a new biotech company that will use all its brain power and logistics in finding revolutionary yeast-based cures to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and ALS disease. Hypertension Medication Lowers ALS Risk

A recent study suggests that there is a connection between angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor use and a lower risk of developing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This type of antihypertensive medication is widely used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Tim Shaw, former linebacker for the Tennessee Titans, revealed on Tuesday that he suffers from a rare and difficult disease known as Lou Gehrig’s disease (or ALS- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
