A wonderful and heart-warming tribute was paid by a bride when, heartbroken after her son’s death, she added him to her wedding pictures.
Anna-Bozman Thompson managed to warm up hearts across America on this cold fall day, when she posted one of her wedding pictures on Facebook, which soon became a national phenomenon.
The story actually began in April, when her little eight-year-old-boy Lake, sadly passed away after he lost his battle with leukemia. Just weeks before the tragic event, the Atlanta Hawks fulfilled one of his dying wishes to become an NBA player and made him an honorary Hawk. They signed a one-day contract with him and gave him his very own basketball jersey, in order to make his last days with us as happy as possible.
Just weeks later, he would be gone. His family suffered greatly at the loss, but, as Anna puts it, they never quite felt he left them. They could still feel the eight-year-old as much part of the family as everyone else, which is the reason that prompted her to take the decision to add him to some family photos.
Originally, she had intended to add him to the annual family Christmas photo, but changed her mind and chose her wedding as the perfect occasion. Therefore, she asked their official wedding photographer to include little Lake in one of the wedding portraits of her, the groom and their other two children.
The photo is breathtaking. The family is shot in a green field, with a warm sunny glow behind them, Anna in her wedding gown, her husband on her side, the family’s boy between them and their little girl in her daddy’s arms. Lake is present too, in a ghostly shape, right next to his father, translucent, but happy.
But it seems like Anna might have been premonitory about her son’s presence, because after the wedding her photographer told her that all through the photo shoot, he saw and photographed a light that kept showing up beside the family, which never changed in shape and color. Anna knew her son would attend her wedding and is now convinced he actually did, which brings the photo even closer to reality.
On her Facebook page, Anna describes how the whole experience was almost “unbearable”, because her son, Lake, was not there to enjoy it with them. In the same way, her mother was a bit worried about the idea of adding little Lake to the wedding portrait, but after she saw it, she realized it was the only way to do it, as Lake is still part of all their lives.
