Scientists have developed a revolutionary 3D vaccine that will cure HIV and cancer cells by helping the immune system to target these diseases.
Researchers say they found the answer to HIV and cancer. Even if this sounds unbelievable, they are confident that the newly developed 3D vaccine will make progress in the field of medical science.
This new vaccine developed by experts presents itself to be very promising in treating cancer and HIV. Basically this material can assemble itself inside the organism and helps the immune system of the host’s body to fight diseases like HIV and cancer among others. The drug is made from mesoporous silica rods or biodegradable rods, are injected in the organism and then they assemble themselves into a 3-D structure. This process, scientists say, it’s instantaneous once the drugs have reached the injection location. After this drug builds the 3-D structure, the body’s dendritic cells take refuge inside and they lay in wait, monitoring the host’s body. When these cells detect a presence that poses as a threat to the organism, they attack that threat.
Doctor David Mooney which led the study explained that these 3D structures are used to enhance and trigger the immune system to take action against cells or organisms that threaten the host’s body. Also he said that when this vaccine is created, nanospores or microscopic holes are made inside these silica rods which then are being filled with drugs that target harmful cells. The process mentioned increases the immune system’s odds to fight the targeted disease. While researchers say that this vaccine is designed especially to target cancer cells, they will focus all of their attention for developing various versions of this cure to target other diseases by using the same 3D models.
The study was conducted on mice and showed great success. The next step in the clinical trial will be testing its effectiveness on human subjects.
Experts believe that this will not only mean curing HIV and cancers but also stop the development of such diseases. Dr. Donald Ingber said that injecting these programmed biomaterials could help in finding an effective cure for Ebola as well as HIV and cancer.
These 3D vaccines are non invasive procedures and offer a effective delivery system for drugs that help and improve the immune system they could also provide an immune system for people that do not have one, such as HIV infected subjects. Experts are also sure that diseases that were able to bypass the body’s immune system will no longer be able to do so since the drug they developed will be designed to exclusively target them.
