Pluto Flyby

It’s already been more than a year since NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft has explored Pluto on July 14, 2015. The much-awaited flyby of the icy Pluto has yielded great results, some of which we’re yet to see as the spacecraft is still sending imagery to Earth. Today’s release might be one of the best moments to ever exist in video format. NASA has published a video produced by the New Horizons … [Read more...]

Kuiper Belt object

NASA’s New Horizons probe, which made history last summer with its flyby of dwarf planet Pluto, was given the green light to travel deeper into the Kuiper Belt and explore another Kuiper Belt object, dubbed 2014 MU69. The tiny probe is expected to reach MU69 in early January 2019. NASA also announced that Dawn spacecraft will stay put on its orbit around dwarf planet Ceres as plans for it to … [Read more...]

Hubble Telescope Seeks New Targets for Pluto Probe

Posted by

The Hubble Space Telescope has begun looking for icy world beyond Pluto as part of a fast-moving campaign to double the scientific payoff from NASA's New Horizons mission. In 2006, New Horizons became the fastest object that humanity has ever sent away from the Earth, and it has only picked up speed since then. New Horizons' primary goal is to send a spacecraft flying past Pluto and its moons … [Read more...]

Giant Oceans Hidden Under Pluto’s Moon Charon?

Posted by

New Horizons observations of Pluto's biggest moon, Charon, have made the scientists look forward for cracks in the surface, to figure out whether it could be hiding a once warm ocean under the surface. Nasa has claimed that the discovery could aid in the hunt for alien life, for which the necessity is the presence of water. This is hard to believe practically as the surface temperature on Pluto … [Read more...]
