Airbnb has recently unveiled a $100,000 campaign promoting third world countries that the United States President had presented as “shithole” countries. The company explained that the ad campaign is designed to boost tourism in countries like El Salvador, Haiti, and African countries.
Last week, Trump described such countries as “shitholes,” leaving the world speechless. The U.S.-based vacation-rental hopes that the campaign will convince more travelers to give those “beautiful places” a chance.
Airbnb claims the world should be a place “where anyone can belong anywhere.” The campaign started last weekend when the company’s CEO Brian Chesky tweeted about the exotic destinations.

The company jokingly tweeted that there is an “expletive-filled interest” in places like Haiti. The tweet added that such countries are beautiful places inhabited by beautiful people.
Chesky underlined that each year, 2.7 million travelers pick Haiti, el Salvador, and African countries as their top travel destinations. “When we embrace the world, we see its beauty,” the CEO added.
Trump Denies ‘Shithole Country’ Comment
Trump dismissed press reports about his “shithole countries” speech taking place. Yet, some people in the room confirmed they were there and they heard the president using those exact words.
On Friday, the President acknowledged that his language was tough, but he added that he has never used “shithole” to describe developing nations in the said Oval Office meaning.
According to Airbnb statistics, countries like El Salvador, Haiti, and Ghana have gained $170 million from tourism last year. On Friday, the company tweeted that countries like Morocco are incredibly beautiful despite them being located in Africa.
In addition, Morocco and other similar countries are the homes of beautiful people that are eager to share their culture and are very proud of it. The company invited everyone to join the #weaccept. campaign on Twitter.
