While the New York Times faced some criticism by the current president of the United States, a move that only led to an increase in subscribers for the news company, now the NY Times also offers free Spotify Premium with their digital subscriptions, if their high-quality journalism didn’t already convince you.
The New York Times offers a subscription model for users who access all of their content rather than just a limited number of articles per month, similar to all other journalistic companies without their own TV stations.
The Times made the announcement regarding its partnership with Spotify on Wednesday. To receive the free Spotify Premium subscription for an entire year, interested users will have to sign-up for a digital subscription to the New York Times for at least a year, as well as being members of the Spotify Premium service.
The offer is currently only available for US residents for a limited time. Interested users can sign-up for the All Access one-year subscription service, which costs $5 a week. Doing so, you will be able to access all the content on the NY Times website, as well as on the mobile app.
The new offer is especially a great deal considering that Spotify Premium costs $10 month. If you take advantage of the New York Times offer, you’ll be able to save quite a bit of money compared to those that have a separate subscription to both services. If you’re not familiar with Spotify Premium, you should know that the music-streaming app provides you access to over 30 million songs without ads and can download music for offline listening.
Meredith Kopit Levien, the executive vice-president as well as the chief revenue officer at the NY Times, states that the newspaper is dedicated to both helping readers understand the world as well as helping them lead better lives.
She continued emphasizing the fact that music and news have a long history, they have gone hand-in-hand ever since the beginnings of radio. The new Spotify Premium offer emphasizes the personalization and curation aspect of the two services, providing users with all the music and news they could want.
