As we continue to search for alternative methods to power the vehicles we rely on, innovators like Tesla Motors manage to make progress by leaps and bounds helping us escape our dependence on fossil fuels. Tesla has made the electric car a real, reliable, efficient, green form of transportation. They are now trying to take their efforts one step further.
Tesla Motors May Expand Eco Friendly Focus
Aside from burning fuel, one of the most wasteful things we do is wash our cars. 50 to 70 gallons of water are wasted with every single wash; this is especially a problem for places like California where drought is a serious and frequent concern. This wasted water runs into drains and creeks and streams, even rivers and oceans along with the chemicals in traditional washes and cleaners. Recently, Tesla Motors set out to address the issue is by teaming up with Eco Green Auto Clean. Forbes ran an article about this pilot program just recently.
Basically, Eco Green Auto Clean is a safe, clean, all-natural way to clean your car using only a single cup of water with the cleaner and a microfiber towel. The product is made of coconut oil and other plant-derived, biodegradable materials so there is no potentially damaging run off and there is no residue or debris left behind like in recycled water. Eco Green Auto Clean has already partnered with Save Our Water, a state program in California attempting to permanently reduce water usage. While only available at the Fremont Factory at present, this potential partnership would place Eco Green Auto Clean automated car washes at each of the Supercharger Stations. Think of it as a green version of the familiar gas station and car wash. While you wait thirty minutes for your car to charge, you can have it returned to that factory original clear coat shine. This would likely have an associated cost through a monthly subscription around the $90 mark.
If this partnership expands to the Supercharger stations, it could spread throughout California and beyond. The program could quickly move to nearby states such as Nevada, Arizona, and here in Utah. Eventually, it could become nationwide. While we wait to see if the partnership comes to fruition, if you’re in Redwood City, CA, you can visit the showroom and have your own car washed using Eco Green Auto Clean and just a single cup of water!
