New Jailbreak Turns Apple’s Watch into a Web Browser

New Jailbreak Turns Apple’s Watch into a Web Browser

A new jailbreak turns Apple’s Watch into a web browser, but tech savvies doubt the program can actually work for the small wearable, reports released on Monday show.

Comex, a former intern at Apple, has made a reputation by jailbreaking Apple’s devices, thus, expanding their features and capabilities.

He became famous after releasing the JailBreakMe application for Apple’s TV, which enabled users to view many more television programmes than the ones generally available.

Apple’s new watch has been subject to a similar treatment to see if the small wearable works as a web browser, as well.

The jailbreaking process was carefully documented in a video that was published by Comex on Monday. The images reveal that Apple’s watch was never created with the intention to function as a web browser.

The wearable is simply too small to fulfill these tasks. Moreover, the small touch screen makes it almost impossible to type letters and numbers in the browser.

Comex accessed Google’s homepage on the small screen and looked up random content on the Internet.

He was then, forced to repeatedly and annoyingly, I might add, zoom in – zoom out the web browser page in order to view and access results.

The jailbreak proved useful from one particular point of view. The video revealed that users can somehow operate their futuristic watches as web browsers in connection to their smartphones.

When used this way, the browsing pages become more visible; however, very few people are expected to perform the technical operations that Comex described in his YouTube video.

Despite the several glitches, the installation of the jailbreak shows Apple’s customers what the watch is really capable of.

The company may actually provide this technology on their future accessories, but for the moment, the iPhone producer is not interested in doing so.

Apple did not make any comments in relation to the recently released video. No other details were disclosed in relation to Apple’s intentions to add web browsing techniques to the smartwatch.

Tech analysts are more interested in the marketing moves that the Cupertino-based company is implementing to stand out from the rest of the smartphone accessories producers.

The smartphone producer is giving celebrities Edition Watches in order to increase sales. This way, Apple will give a new status to their smartwatches making them as valuable as the luxury watches that celebrities normally wear.

Apple Watch Edition wearables are extremely costly. The real gold version of the Apple Watch Edition has been set to $15,000.
