One of the world’s snooker champions, if not the best of them all, Ronnie O’Sullivan just cracked his 13th career 147 break in the match against Matthew Selt. The genius player easily advances to the quarter-finals after a 6-0 win at the United Kingdom Championship in York.
A nervous Selt seemed to crack under the pressure as O’Sullivan was taking advantage of the game. The performance looked more like a conductor waving his baton while conducting the symphony of a lifetime.
He was not going to wait for anything: O’Sullivan kept aiming and hitting relentlessly, almost forgetting to pause for air.
O’Sullivan explained that the adrenaline pumped up his performance after the world number four missed the 12th black. Just before accomplishing the maximum 147, the blue seemed to hesitate a bit. It was then that O’Sullivan questioned himself for a moment:
“I was shaking like a leaf out there. The blue just about went in and I was shaking on the pink but I hit it well. “
he said.
In an all-characteristic style, he then told reporters that he began celebrating even before he hit the black, rationalizing that he could not miss such a straightforward shot.
On the all-time list of 147 breaks, O’Sullivan is first, followed by Stephen Hendry, the seven-time world champion. He is currently the highest-ranked player still on his way towards the finals after world champion Mark Selby and defending UK champion Neil Robertson were both eliminated.
