Liberian Treatment Center Expands Due to Increase in Ebola Cases

August 16, 2014 Posted by Editor

download (7)On Saturday, the Ebola treatment center was expanded after authorities noticed that the number of patients was increasing continuously.

At the same time, two additional airlines made public announcements that flights would no longer be landing to the capitals of Liberia and Sierra Leone. Apart from flights, West African athletes have also received official interdictions from competing at the Youth Olympics in China.

Both Kenya Airways and Gambia Bird have decided to join the expanding list of airlines that won’t be taking the risk of landing in West Africa. These airlines have decided to avoid transmitting the deadly disease at all costs.

On Tuesday, Kenya Airways will stop after midnight. Titus Naikuni, the Chief Executive officer of Kenya Airways declared that the company had convened with the country’s health ministry and they decided together that this would constitute the best course of action.

Gambia Bird declared that it had also ceased all flights towards Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria.

According to their statements, both airline companies desire to first and foremost ensure the safety and health of all their passengers and grew. Because of the international concern that the spread of the Ebola outbreak has cased, the airlines have decided that closing their gates would be the best way to go.

According to World Health Organization experts, the pandemic could last for another six months during which mortality rates may rise as a sign that the outbreak is maturing.

Currently, 1,145 people are reported dead because of the Ebola virus all over Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone (three people have also died in Nigeria, bringing the country in the public eye as well).

The World Health Organization fears that many still underestimate the gravity of the situation.

Three West-African athletes will not be allowed to compete during China’s Youth Olympics because of concerns regarding the infection with the Ebola virus.

Regular temperature and physical assessments will become a prerequisite in such a situation where the lives of people are at stake.

The African athletes would have competed in combat sports and aquatics.

Official statements have not made the names of the athletes who will not be competing today public.

There are, however, other information connected to the list of competitors on the official games website where the Nigerian female wrestler the judo athlete and the swimmer from Guinea are clearly not on the guest list.

Experts not that specialized clinics are absolutely mandatory so as to hope that doctors have a chance of beating this deadly illness.
