In an ill-fated incident, a Utah teenager who was serving his Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in Stockholm Sweden died in a road rage on Sunday.
19-year-old Mason Lewis Bailey was walking along a road in Stockholm with his mission companion on Sunday when a car struck him, according to a statement from LDS Church spokesman Cody Craynor.
Bailey, who hails from Richfield, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead the same day.
Meanwhile, Bailey’s companion suffered no injury, Craynor said in the statement.
“We are mindful of Elder Bailey’s family and loved ones during this difficult time and unite our faith and prayers with all church members, who mourn at the death of a missionary,” Craynor said.
The young missionary had been serving in the Sweden Stockholm Mission since July.
