Many people use a facial scrub in order to maintain their skin healthy and smooth. One of the most known facial scrubs is St. Ives Apricot scrub which is produced by Unilever. This company is now facing a lawsuit.
The company was suited because somebody reported facial irritation after using this product. The lawsuit was filed by 2 women. They claimed that after they used this facial scrub they felt like they were using “sandpaper” to clean their face.
These women also mentioned that the label is misleading because it says that the product is tested but not recommended. Many people might believe that doctors recommend this facial scrub but it is not the case.
People have got used to this facial scrub because it is really cheap and widely available. Many don’t know that this product is not recommended for them because it is not such a great facial scrub. Before this lawsuit others complained that this scrub irritates them.
Many doctors mentioned that using a facial scrub is not the best idea because any type of scrub can irritate the skin. The $5 million lawsuit claims that the facial scrub is actually affecting your skin not making it look and feel better.
Unilever made an official statement mentioning that they usually don’t comment on litigation. They also added that they are proud of their product because a lot of people are using it and it is one of the top scrub brands in the US.
The label of the product also states that it is a natural product but many disagree with this statement. Experts recommend us to use all natural products like jojoba beads if we really want to have healthier skin and a natural glow. People can also use shea butter or honey of their skin is too sensitive or too dry.
Unilever also mentioned that St Ives has been on the top in the last 30 years and that this lawsuit is not going to affect their business. People who are used with this product will continue to use it despite the fact that it can cause facial irritation.
Have you ever used this product? Do you think that it can cause facial irritation?
