If you are the proud owner of a pet, you probably want it to come with you everywhere you go, but travelling with pets is not always easy.
Most of the time, your pet is at home, waiting for you to come back from work. Sometimes, besides the daily walks (when it comes to dogs), you have to take your pet with you. The most common “trip” is the one to the vet.
Since you usually can’t simply walk your pet to the vet, you have to find the best way to transport your pet. Make sure you get them a special pet carrier. This is going to keep them safe if you’re travelling by car, so they won’t roam free and interfere with your driving or bump into things. Also, try to keep them away from windows. Although they might enjoy staying mouth open they could get injured from something hitting them at that speed or something my get into their eyes.
If you’re going on a real trip on holiday and you want to take your pet with you, you should consider their schedule. If you have a dog that needs walks and you won’t be able to give them that on holiday, then you should leave them at home and ask someone to care for them. If you own a cat, then you should know cats are not very big fans of change, so they will feel better at home, than in an unfamiliar environment.
If you have to travel by plain, make sure you take your pet to the vet first for a check up to make sure they can travel. Many pets are sensitive to air travel and such a trip could really affect their health.
If you know your pet can travel and you want to give them a vacation, there are many hotels that not only tolerate pets, but even accommodate them in the most luxurious ways. In the U.S. 60 percent of hotels accept pets and luxury hotels such as Kimpton, Loews and W, are really trying to appeal to the animals.
For example, Loews and W offer chef-made delicacies for pets as well as room-service. Of course, pets receive special bedding and even dog surfing lessons. There are many pet owners out there who are not willing to let their dear animals at home, so hotels are taking advantage of this by offering luxurious service for the four-legged tourists.
All in all, whether you’re going to a five-star hotel or only to visit the vet, make sure your pet is safe.
