Scientists have published a list of vital mistakes people make when replacing saturated fats, based on the recent studies they have conducted. In their opinion, these mistakes make cardiovascular treatments less effective and they prevent people from losing weight.
Most modern diets recommend people to replace saturated fats with healthier products, but people rarely know what the correct ingredients for them are. It is because of these mistakes that patients rarely accomplish their desired outcomes. Moreover, the effectiveness of the diet is considerably diminished, particularly in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Scientists have discovered these mistakes after conducting a complex investigation on 85,000 nurses and 43,000 doctors. Respondents had to fill out questionnaires and provide answers in relation to the products they eat for a period of four years.
The products and their specific caloric intakes have also been taken into consideration during the research. This data has led scientists into concluding that saturated fats are always at blame when it comes to cardiovascular affections and not carbohydrates.
Tests have revealed that poly-and mono-unsaturated are the most effective when it comes to losing weight. Heart risks are reduced by 25 percent if patients simply replace regular daily products and red meat with soy milk and fish.
The monounsaturated olive oil and peanut oil that nutrition experts have been praising for years, have the ability to ameliorate cardiovascular diseases for 15 percent of the cases.
Surprisingly, the experiment has further revealed that healthy carbs are not as effective as scientists thought they were. They can diminish cholesterol levels and reduce the body mass index (BMI), but they are not as effective as unsaturated fats. Statistics show that eating whole grain foods lowers risks only by 9 percent, compared to the 25 percent improvement coming from unsaturated fats.
The American College of Cardiology has stated that saturated fats and refined carbs, which used to be considered healthy, have the same negative effects on humans’ bodies. Another mistake that people usually do when they reduce the intake of saturated fats is to consume unrefined carbs, instead.
Nutrition experts recommend patients to refrain themselves from consuming sugar or white flour. These ingredients should be replaced with olive oil, peanut oil, sea flower seeds and nuts for better results. Coupled with mild or intense physical activities, unsaturated fats can lower symptoms of most cardiovascular diseases.
