It’s hard to make a comeback and it’s difficult to live up to expectations, but Apple Watch is app focused in new ads and doing its best. Reports have been all over the news about the company’s accessory gadget and the possibility of it tanking sooner rather than later. On one end, it’s doing badly in comparison to Apple’s iPhone or Mac products, but on the other end, it’s still beating out its rivals in smartwatches.
High expectations may be at fault, as many who critique it choose to ignore the fact that the Apple Watch did quite well in its first nine weeks, selling more units than the iPhone did when it first came out in its first quarter. Regardless, the luxury wrist gadget is still under scrutiny and the three new TV ads are trying to remind us why we should indulge.
The ads are 15 seconds long and showcase what the timepiece can do in regards to apps, boasting and promoting a possible better performance than before. This was quite possibly a move from the company to try and persuade third-parties to create or adapt their own app to the device.
Shazam and Instagram have apparently found a way, but companies such as Facebook and Snapchat are still staying out of it, so far.
Each ad separately focused on a different aspect and flaunted various possibilities, all app related. One of the ads concentrates on travel, showcasing apps such as Expedia, Yelp, TripAdvisor or Uber for those who will be carrying the gadget along with them on expeditions.
Another focuses on music, centered on apps such as the aforementioned Shazam, Pacemaker DJ or Apple’s own Music, essentially able to replace one of the iPhone’s functions. And the third ad surrounds perhaps what is what made the smart watch beat out its competition: the fitness apps.
While most reports told of bad news for the Apple Watch, it was still constantly ahead of its competitors, mainly products such as FitBit who offers similar services in regards to exercise and fitness. In the new ad, Apple showcases its Activity, Nike+ and Waterminder to remind you why it remained in the top.
The upcoming update for the smart watch’s operating system will be coming this fall and it will be aiming at improving performance and hoping that it will attract more customers to turn away the eyes of the skeptics that have not yet drunk from the Apple Watch Kool-Aid.
