The CEO of GoPro has revealed new VR quadcopter drone which could soon turn the core product of the company. Although the flying camera will cost around $3000, the founder Nick Woodman said the flying drone will make up for the somewhat salty price through its advanced technology.
2015 has already seen the launching of other flying drones, but the CEO of GoPro, Nick Woodman, is not afraid of the competition as he claims the new flying machinery will successfully stand out from the rest of the products in the market segment. The new launching was announced at a recent Code Conference in the United States.
The announcement was in itself sufficient to draw developers’ attention. Woodman did not provide too many details in relation to the tech specifications of the new product, but further communications are expected in the near future.
GoPro has hinted before that the company will get involved in the development of a new flying camera device. The most recent announcement in this sense was made last year, but Woodman has maintained the mystery all throughout this period. The moment has finally arrived and now the drone is expected to hit market shelves by the end of the year.
GoPro has been relying heavily in the past on flying drones; therefore, the CEO thought creating their own product might turn out a good idea. “The quad is in some ways the ultimate GoPro accessory”, was the CEO’s description of the upcoming gadget.
The other products that GoPro is trying to compete against are those released by producers like DJI, Parrot, and 3D Robotics. However, GoPro’s quadcopter will be designed to meet consumers’ needs, so both the price and the tech specifications will be easy to use by most clients.
Among the main reasons that have determined Woodman to get his hands into the flying camera things, were also the many benefits that consumers could get from the use of the drone. The CEO has put himself in clients’ shoes and has thus, concluded that stimulating clients’ imagination with the help of the drone will help the company strengthen its position in the field.
The quadcopter is not similar to other flying cameras already available on the market. Woodman has particularly stressed that the flying camera will be compatible with the VR and AR systems released by Oculus, HoloLens, Cardboard and YouTube 360 videos. The virtual reality feature will be ensured with the help of the Six-Camera Spherical Filming Mode.
CEO is convinced the new virtual reality quadcopter will be a hit among flying camera users. Moreover, the executive plans to launch many more accessories for the device once the gadget is safely placed on the market.
