The rumors that Apple is planning to launch a new and larger iPad are circulating for half a year, but now new information has been revealed that point into the direction that Apple will indeed launch a new iPad Pro with a stylus.
Steve Jobs used to hate the stylus and he was famed for saying that if you see a stylus, they blew it. Then how come Apple is planning to incorporate a stylus into their new and larger iPad Pro? Naturally, Apple will not comment on any rumors, so we can’t really know if and when a new and larger iPad will hit the market.
The new iPad Pro with a stylus is rumors to have a much larger display than all the other iPads; the iPad Pro with a stylus is believed to have a display of 12.9 inches. The latest rumor that is cementing the notion of a new and bigger iPad Pro with a stylus comes from Ming-chi Kuo from KGI Securities, who after researching many patent filings by Apple, has concluded that the iPad Pro with a stylus is most likely going to become a reality in the second quarter of 2015.
Kuo believes that the stylus isn’t just going to be a piece of metal with a rubber on top, but that it’s going to need charging with a Lightning connector, which is going to make it a bit of a smart pen that allows people to use it for 3D handwriting, for example. If this is the case, then this means that the stylus is going to add to the already high price of the iPad, which leads analysts to believe that the stylus could be sold as an optional accessory that could also be used with other iPad models.
Kuo wrote:
We don’t foresee significant sales of an optional stylus in 2015 and forecast unit shipments of 2-2.5 million. But we believe that the stylus could improve the experience of users, however, and will likely help Apple develop specific customer groups such as the corporate sector and educational institutions.
Kuo isn’t new to predicting what and when Apple is launching new products. He’s also predicted that the iPad Air 2 would come in a gold color option, it would have a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and it would feature an anti-reflective coating on its screen among other things.
What we do know for sure is that Apple will launch a new iPad this year, because it does this every year, but will it be an iPad Pro with a stylus?
