Lenovo Smartband SW-B100 Revealed on Company Website

Lenovo Smartband SW-B100

As working conditions changed dramatically in the last decades, technology has been blamed for having one deeply negative impact on the health of individuals, although the advantages dominate. The problem is that while physical effort is increasingly being replaced by intellectual work, diet and fitness turned into core issues indicating health status.

To those complaining that office work forbids them from taking adequate care of their health, tech companies offer a new solution, health-related wearables. Some smartphones already come with heartbeat monitors, but fitness wristbands are increasingly popular. Now there is a new contender, Lenovo Smartband SW-B100.

The Chinese company released the fitness band without any media fuss. The product was introduced on the website and its description says this:

“The Lenovo Smartband is for young people who take care of their personal health and are interested in new tech trend products. It allows you to track daily exercise, sleep and heart rate, customise notifications to improve both work and life efficiency and automatically log in on a PC without entering a password.”

The band works with Android 4.3 and above, as well as iOS 7.1 and above, a welcomed feature, as many producers choose one platform and subsequently add compatibility with the other.

So what does it do? Lenovo Smartband SW-B100 works as a pedometer, it records your pulse and your burnt calories and the smartband can monitor your sleep. Moreover, the smarband has one smartwatch borrowed capability: it can alert you if you receive an SMS or phone call. The device connects to a Windows PC without any password, a huge advantage, as unlocking devices turned into a choir.

Lenovo decided to release a fitness band instead of a smartwatch, a different approach when compared to the other big players. However, Lenovo decided to create its own operating system for the device. Without Android Wear, there is no way of adding third-party apps to the smartband to expand its functionality. But the fitness band tells the time too. Overall, Lenovo’s latest release may have enough functions for most users.

You can choose between blue and orange, but there is only one black strap. No price has been unveiled and we don’t know yet when Lenovo decides to make it public.

Lenovo’s product is not original in any way. Samsung’s Gear Fit basically has basically the same functionality. The price, on the other hand, may turn this fitness band into a huge success.
