The location-sharing app company Foursquare has decided to offer a more personal feel to its users by giving a more personal app that will provide them sharing intimate location details.
Insiders say, the company has planned to split its core app into two separate experiences. While one part will provide recommendations on locations, another will guide users about “social heat map” where they can check in and see nearby friends.
Foursquare’s new app Swarm is meant for those users who want to do more than chat with on Skype or talk to in a text message.
According to the company, its current location-sharing app is good for those who want quick suggestions in their areas about good meeting joints, eateries and restaurants.
They say Swarm would be different as it will fill the empty space and allow the users to meet with friends they have known a long time. Moreover, people can fill their weekends and leisure time with those who know them as more than just a passing acquaintance.
Foursquare in its Swarm app announcement on its blog said, “Our company has always been about helping you keep up and meet up with their friends, and discover great places. Our two new, unbundled apps are designed to do that for everyone. Swarm is for people who want the fastest and easiest way to connect with their friends. Foursquare is for explorers who want to know about the best spots, and to share what they’ve found with others. The two apps have been built to work seamlessly together – and we can’t wait until both apps are in your hands.”
Users can download the new Swarm in their Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks. The Windows phone users will receive the new Swarm app sometime later.
