Apple is all set to make its debut in the world of ‘smart home’ technology in a big way.
If reports are to be believed, Apple is planning to enter the smart home world in a smarter way with positioning the iPhone as a remote control for home automation.
Now you will be able to turn on the lights, adjust the heat and control appliances with the device.
According to the reports, further details on the new software platform is expected to arrive by June 2 during Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, Apple was unavailable for comment.
The souces say the tech giant is in talks with a group of device makers about certifying their smart home products to work with its forthcoming system.
With this smart debut into connected-home technology, Apple will join the race with arch rivals Google and Samsung. Both Google and Samsung have proved their mettle into the field.
Google announced it was buying Nest Labs, a maker of smart home thermostats and smoke alarms in January for USD 3.2 billion.
Samsung had launched its “Smart Home” services in April.
