Juicing not a good way to detox or diet, say experts

April 12, 2014 Posted by Contributor

Health experts have always recommended fruit and vegetable juices as part of a healthy diet. Juice can be used as a body cleanser, blood purifier or to lose weight. But are these juices really good for you?

The best thing about juicing is that it is a quick recipe that suffices the need of fruit and vegetables, and that too all at once relatively quickly. It is great for those sharing busy lifestyles.

According to the Center for Disease Control, a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables may help in reducing the risk of serious diseases like cancer and other chronic diseases.

Experts say fruits and vegetables are necessary for fulfilling requirement of essential vitamins and minerals, fiber and other substances that are necessary for maintaining a good health condition.

According to health experts, juicing is good but one must not completely rely on it for rest of their day. Besides juice consumption requires certain amount of calculations as far as amount of calories taken. As juices are mixture of number of fruits and vegetables, therefore it is important for all those to understand their calorie intake. Moreover, it takes away from a lot of the servings you get at meals.

Juicing is a smart way to cleanse the body system. While juicing is probably low-calorie compared to a cheeseburger and fries, it’s a very concentrated source of calories. It is important for those on juice diet to consume less fats and maintain a healthy diet throughout. Juicing should not be used as the whole diet as it will usually cause a relapse into bad habits due to restricting the diet so harshly.  Juicing in moderation can help with nutrient absorption.

Overall, it can be concluded that juicing in moderate way can help in the consumption of key nutrients good for body. However, it’s not a good way to detox or diet.
