After staging war against micro-blogging site Twitter, Facebook seems to be now ready to take on search giant Google.
Besides sharing your thoughts, your pictures and staying connected with your closed ones, the social networking site is going to offer you its new service i.e. newswire. It means while scrolling your profile and going through what’s on your friends’ mind, you can stay updated with the news of the hour.
Last week, the social media giant has announced the creation of FB Newswire. It will be fully dedicated news page that will have breaking news, news of the day and lot more about the globe. Moreover, this will also offer journalists and writers to access trustworthy news.
FB News Global and Media Partnerships Director Andy Mitchell said, “Today we’re excited to announce FB Newswire, a resource that will make it easier for journalists and newsrooms to find, share and embed newsworthy content from Facebook in the media they produce. Every day, news is made on Facebook. More than one billion people use our platform to discover, explore, and participate in news-making events around the world.”
Facebook has recently made some changes by including trending topics and hash tags alike Twitter. These features will contribute to a larger extent in its news service.
FB Newswire will be powered by Storyful. It’s a platform acquired by News Corp last December in a USD 25 million deal.
“In Storyful, we’re excited to have found a partner with a track record of understanding both the potential of the social web as a key resource for media as well as the tools that newsrooms need to utilize it,” said Mitchell.
