STANSBURY PARK, Tooele County : Mark Richard Johnson, 37, died at Mountain West Medical Center on Saturday evening after dodging a Tooele County deputy and booming his vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police were seeking Mark Richard Johnson, from Stansbury Park for questioning in association with a domestic issue at his home, Tooele Police Lt. Travis Scharmann said.
Tooele County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Sparks confirmed that the vehicle was registered to Johnson, after following the vehicle he thought was Johnson’s vehicle in the Stansbury Park area.
The sergeant chased while Johnson drove away from a stop sign at Brigham Road, where Johnson turned west onto SR-138. He then turned his lights on but Johnson later drove off.
Johnson seems not to be wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, which turned round on top of him, according to the sheriff’s office news release.
Scharmann told the case is under investigation of Utah Highway Patrol.
