Flu death toll rises to 5 in Utah

The flu death toll has reached five in Utah with three more deaths reported in southwest region of the state, according to the Southwest Utah Public Health Department.

Health experts said the victims were younger than 64 and were in fairly good health. They were living in the southwest region of Utah.

Out of the 369 hospitalized this season, five have died of influenza this season, says the Utah Department of Health. Three of the flu deaths have occurred within the past two weeks.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) latest weekly flu report, the flu infection is slowly increasing across the United States with 35 states being affected so far. People belonging to the age group 18 to 64 were mostly affected by the flu, CDC said.

The Utah administration has asked the people to get their flu shots. Flu symptoms include fever, coughing, a sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches and fatigue. You can visit the following clinics to have your vaccinations done:
